Who is this For?

Anyone who wants to learn about crisis intervention using Kindness.

  • When people hear the term crisis intervention, they often associate it with psychologists, medical professionals, counselors, clergy, or first responders. While these roles are vital, crisis intervention can also begin with the ordinary person. A listening ear, a compassionate response, a kind word, or simply being present can become the first step toward hope and healing for someone in crisis.

At the foundation of The Voice of Kindness are the practical principles of the Think 3-2-1 Strategy and The BE KIND Model. Through these teachings, we present a different perspective on crisis intervention—one rooted not only in professional response, but in everyday Kindness lived out God’s way.

Kindness is not weakness; it is a powerful intervention that can interrupt despair, restore dignity, and remind people they are not alone.

Crisis touches everyone. Layers of hardship, trauma, loss, and emotional pain can deeply affect the mind and spirit. Mental illness and emotional disorders can lead to hopelessness and even suicide. If suicide is one of the most extreme expressions of crisis, then we must be willing as a community to respond with courage, compassion, and kindness.

The heart of The Voice of Kindness is simple: kindness is something everyone understands, and everyone can give. God’s Kindness, expressed through willing and available people, creates practical opportunities to respond to those in crisis and help guide them toward Hope, Help, and Healing. You do not have to be a professional to make a difference. Sometimes the frontline defense for a hurting person is an ordinary individual willing to listen, care, and respond with kindness.

  • Humanity is hardwired for survival. Something is wrong when we begin to be creative in how we can die. When undue stress become distress and distress becomes a dysfunction, there is a need to connect to protect. We know the hurdle is not having the resources to get help but the true hurdle is recognizing a person in crisis connection and their need for hope.

    • Recognize signs (early, immediate, and imminent)

    • Respond with Christ-like compassion

    • Refer wisely and walk alongside those in need

    • Restore Hope through spiritual and practical care

You don’t need to be a counselor—just a willing vessel of Kindness.

In today’s world, access to mental health support is often limited—but you can be the difference. God has uniquely positioned the Church to be a sanctuary of love, truth, and restoration. This course will help you:

One final consideration: These courses are designed for everyday people who want to respond with confidence, care, and compassion in the moments that matter most.

Why This Program Is Innovative:

The Voice of Kindness is a unique, innovative approach to crisis intervention that draws on the principle of Kindness as both a practical and spiritual tool to intervene in suicide ideation. This curriculum provides a fresh, simple, and actionable strategy that can be applied by anyone, regardless of their background, to help individuals in their darkest moments.

  • The BE KIND model is simple, practical, and can be adopted by anyone—regardless of their professional background or training. Ordinary people can make a difference. Acts of kindness are accepted by people from all countries, in all languages, and various faith.  When kindness is taught as a cultural axiom, those with faith and without faith can know how learning the BE KIND Model fosters a compassionate, supportive environment for those experiencing extreme stress, even to suicidal ideation.

  • Unlike other crisis intervention programs that focus on immediate de-escalation, The Voice of Kindness extends beyond a short term immediate action goal to crisis care. Crisis care is a longer journey in the process of guiding participants in supporting close connections (friends and family) toward long-term recovery, and appropriate referrals.

  • The inclusion of real-world scenarios gives participants a chance to engage in role-play, providing hands-on practice in responding to various levels of crisis. This experiential learning builds confidence and readiness to act when faced with real crises.

  • This program integrates a biblical framework that emphasizes compassion and kindness yet is adaptable for secular audiences. This makes it relevant for a wide variety of settings, including churches, schools, workplaces (business, corporations, military, government), and hospitals.

  • The Voice of Kindness training focuses on one of the most serious consequences of overwhelming stress—suicidal ideation. By addressing this highest level of emotional and mental distress, the principles taught in the training can be applied to anyone experiencing stress at any stage of crisis.

As a Hope Connector, you will learn how to recognize signs, share guard rails and curative factors, and help connect individuals to appropriate resources. Your timely intervention may provide the hope, help, and healing a person needs before their situation escalates into a more serious crisis.

Dr. Gavi advocates for a cultural shift within faith communities to foster open dialogue around mental and behavioral health, breaking silence and shame with empathy and truth. Kindness is more than a virtue—it is a bridge to hope, help, and healing.
